About Us
Curtis grew up in Walnut Creek. I grew up in San Anselmo. Both of us really love the areas in which we were raised. Thanks mom and dad! Curtis was an Eagle Scout (which I always tease him about). I was an Indian Princess (go Sleepy Dogs). Curtis was over five feet tall and 140 pounds in Third Grade. I was nicknamed "Toothpick" and still waiting for the big growth spurt to happen well into my Freshman year. Curtis played football as an offensive lineman (go figure). I played basketball and soccer and was what some call "the defensive specialist" (thanks Mr. Enos). We both loved sports and of course, the competitive edge. To this day we attempt softball, in a co-ed D league. The joke's on us I guess.
Curtis went to mountains to study Fire Science in Senora. (No he didn't score any gold nuggets while he was up there) and I went off to the land of the Mustangs in San Luis Obispo. We both ended up in the Bay Area to start our "adult lives'" -- well sort of. Curtis has been with Falcon Ambulance for six years as a supervisor/marketing specialist. I have been in advertising sales with Diablo Publications for close to seven years. We live in Cole Valley in San Francisco and love it! Together we enjoy music, hiking, food, weekend drives, movies, sporting events, and goofing around together.
How We Met -- Again
Curtis and I will be eternally grateful for second chances. It wasn't until we re-connected three years after we dated for the first time, that we TRULY MET. I was introduced to Curtis in 2005 at my 25th birthday party. One of Curtis's best friends from childhood, Alex Ackerman (also a groomsman) and my IT Manager, brought him to my pool party. Curtis arrived in a popped pink polo with 24 pack in hand, so I immediately greeted with a "who invited the frat guys?" comment. As you can tell we've been sparing from the start. Following an afternoon of fun, Curtis claims I made the first move. Witnesses say otherwise. For the next four months Curtis and I were inseparable. Then life happened and we went in different directions.
Over the next few years we definitely "kept tabs on each other" as Curtis likes to say. It helped that one of my good friends and co-workers, Toni Kerr (also a bridesmaid) was dating Curtis's good friend, Jeremy Tighe (also a groomsman). Therefore, we always seemed to have the inside scoop on each other. Thanks to the RIGHT TIMING and Curtis's bold move of a more-than-eager invitation to a summer BBQ in 2008, we re-connected for good. The rest is history as they say. Well not really, over the next two years we became best friends and soul companions. In fact, we often say that it feels like we've known each other all our lives.'
One thing this journey has taught us...is that love can only be received when the timing is right and the people are ready. Here's to the next part of our journey.
